Construction starts on first Breedendam MTB fourzero Wheelhouse
The expert craftsmen at the Breedendam Yachts yard in Leeuwarden (NL) have started work on the first boat in the wheelhouse version of the MTB fourzero design. Designed by Guido de Groot, this 13.37m retro classic yacht comes complete with the very latest technologies.
Her aluminium hull has a blue colour scheme and the owner has requested various special features on board, including a wide array of diving equipment and a hydraulic bathing ladder and gangway.
From the Netherlands to the Caribbean
This impressive new MTB fourzero Wheelhouse will be equipped for both warm and cold climates for use in areas ranging from the Netherlands to the Caribbean. Another special feature is that it will be possible to allow the yacht to run dry so that the owner can explore the Dutch Wadden Islands and other shallow regions.
Relaxed atmosphere
Her layout is highly practical with accommodation for four people. She has a fully equipped galley, a dinette that can be converted into a double bed, a large salon area in the wheelhouse, a master cabin, and a large bathroom and shower room. Her interior design will provide a relaxed atmosphere in a contemporary style that matches the timeless lines of the exterior. The choice of materials follows the high quality for which Breedendam Yachts is renowned.
Perfect balance
The main wood on board is teak, which is nicely combined with white surfaces to reflect the personal taste of the owner. The teak is lacquered in a way that retains its natural look, with stainless steel details bringing in the accents. The curved windows in the wheelhouse are made of safety glass. Synthetic leathers and outdoor fabrics are used for the sofa upholstery and Alcantara on the walls of the owner’s cabin. In addition to being soft and comfortable to the touch, the fabrics are extremely strong, durable and stain-resistant. They offer clear added value to the contemporary interior style with a perfect balance of beauty, tradition and technology.
High tech
All technical systems feature the latest technologies. The electrical CAN Bus system makes operating equipment and appliances simple, including on remote with an iPad. The sunroof and the sliding window between the saloon and cockpit are also electrically operated. LED lighting is used throughout, the three televisions are 4k (Ultra HD). The MTB fourzero Wheelhouse is powered by two Volvo IPS600 engines which give her a maximum speed of 35 knots but also allow the helmsman to hold position with a single push on the button.
The new MTB fourzero Wheelhouse is due to be delivered during the 2016 summer sailing season in Europe.
