Breedendam MTB fourzero wheelhouse
yacht Pelican delivered to new owners
The first model of the latest flagship yacht to emerge from the Leeuwarden-based shipyard, Breedendam Yachts, has been delivered to her new owners. Cruising under the name of Pelican, the 13.37-metre MTB is a retro classic tender that is equipped with all of the latest technologies, with the design of the MTB tenders inspired by the Motor Torpedo Boats of World War II. Springing from the drawing boards of well-known superyacht designer Guido de Groot and with naval architecture by fellow Dutch studio Flamme Yacht Design, the aluminium yacht marries beautiful Dutch craftsmanship with modern comfort and amenities.
Distinctive for her long, elegant, classic-looking hull, she also sports a wood trim as a clear indication of the care and attention which went into her build. Stepping inside, the interior is characteristic for its lacquered teak, stainless-steel accents, white surfaces and leather furnishings for a timeless and calming atmosphere.
The wheelhouse is both bright and spacious and designed with guests’ comfort at the forefront. An electric sliding roof and sliding window between the salon and cockpit help keep those on board connected to the outside. In terms of accommodation, up to four guests can sleep on board across the forward stateroom and the saloon lounge which is convertible into a two-person berth. Naturally, performance is key where any tender is concerned, and here, too Pelican fits the bill. With an impressive maximum speed of 35 knots, Pelican’s power is provided by twin 435hp Volvo Penta IPS600 engines and she is also set up with the latest navigational equipment, including a Simrad log, scanner plotter and GPS.
Notably, the previous owner of Pelican has now ordered another vessel with Breedendam Yachts. This is a clear testament to the Dutch shipyard’s solid reputation within the yachting industry, thanks to the exceptional quality of the vessels it produces.
